MEDIA ADVISORY: Micro Business Development Group formed Central Region
“Small Business Solutions” Support Group Formed
The Exploits Valley Economic Development Corporation (EVEDC) is pleased to announce the formation of Micro Business Development Group (MBDG) Small Business Solutions. The group consists of 6 individuals who are eagerly pursuing their business dreams in the Exploits Valley. “I am absolutely thrilled to be involved in the program” said Diane Coish, Program Facilitator. “They are a very energetic and enthusiastic group of individuals who have come to respect and support one another in a team environment. It’s a pleasure to be part of this creative process”.
EVEDC Chairperson, Cyril Langdon, extended congratulations to the members of Small Business Solutions. “The EVEDC is happy to support small business development in our region, and we pledge our support to the group as they continue to succeed” said Mr. Langdon.
The MBDG program provides micro-loans and other business development services for eligible clients who are starting or expanding home-based businesses and other micro-enterprises. Services include business counselling, training and business network development. These services are delivered through client membership in peer support groups. The program is open to any interested entrepreneurs residing in the Central region who are 19 years of age or older.
“Now that we have our first group up and running, we are eager to start recruiting for our second group” said Diane Coish. Individuals who are interested in exploring this program are encouraged to contact Diane Coish at the Exploits Valley Economic Development Corporation.

BACKGROUND:
MBDG is delivered in partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Co-operatives. Funding for the program is provided by the Provincial Government through the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, through an initiative of the province’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. The program is delivered regionally by the EVEDC. Approved loans are issued through the Community Business Development Corporation Central (CBDC) in Grand Falls-Windsor.
